Melbourne Travel Tip - Hire a car from the airport

If you’re flying into Melbourne anytime soon and need to get into the city, consider calling ahead a booking a car to meet you at the airport when you get there. The taxi fares in Melbourne are fairly expensive, and because the airport is a fair way out of the city it ends up costing about $80. If you book a car in advance (from a limo company - not the normal taxi companies) you can usually get there for about the same price, but it’s much more comfortable (some will even offer you alcoholic drinks) and you don’t have to wait in line at the cab rank.
