Robot Replay Module for Drupal
I just created a small Drupal module to make it easier to add the Robot Replay javascript tracking file into the pages of my Drupal sites.
What is Robot Replay?
Robot Replay is a website tracking system that allows you to replay the mouse gestures and actions of your users as they move through your website. It is developed by a Canadian software company called Nitobi who coined the term 'cinelytics' (a combination of cinema and analytics) to describe the new style of tracking. This is what Nitobi say on the Robot Replay website:
RobotReplay lets you record and watch your website visitors in action. View recorded sessions of every mouse movement, click and keystroke:
- Improve your site's usability
- See where your readers get bored
- Convert more visitors to buyers
It's usability testing for the rest of us.
How to install and use the Robot Replay module for Drupal
- Signup for a free Robot Replay account at www.RobotReplay.com and add the domain you would like to monitor
- Download the Robot Replay module (5.x-1.0)
- Extract the module to your Drupal modules directory and upload as normal
- Enable the module in your Drupal administration interface
- Configure the Robot Replay module (admin > site configuration > Robot Replay) by selecting the roles that you would like to track with Robot Replay, and also activate your domain (verify that you are the owner of the domain) by pasting the unique Activation Filename provided by Robot Replay into the Activation File box
- Sit back and relax (or get back to your other work).
I'll be porting this module to Drupal 6 as soon as it comes out, and I'll be more than happy to port it to Drupal 4.7 if there is enough interest (contact me to let me know).
